Occupational Injury Treatment with Panther Physical Therapy

occupational therapy

If you have experienced an occupational injury, then you know that it can take a toll on you and your family. You want to find relief for your pain and learn how to prevent further injury so that you can return to work as soon as possible.

With that in mind, Panther Physical Therapy believes that the best back-to-work plan for injured workers consists of proper rest and therapy. Our physical therapists create each treatment plan to meet our patients’ needs.

Clinical therapy sessions and at-home exercises can be part of your treatment plan, depending on your injury. Completing at-home exercises as prescribed by your physical therapist is important. If done correctly and as assigned, at-home exercises may help patients recover faster.

Common types of occupational injury

There are many types of occupational injury. Depending on the type of job you have, you may have an increased risk for one of the following common work-related injuries:

  • Bone fractures
  • Bursitis (extra fluid in the joints)
  • Muscle strain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Whiplash

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

Our specially trained physical therapists will perform a complete assessment of a patient’s current abilities to perform work tasks, such as sitting, standing, walking, gripping, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting and using tools.

A Functional Capacity Evaluation helps identify if a patient is ready to return to work safely. It also provides a detailed summary of the patient’s physical abilities regarding his/her work environment.

After completing the Functional Capacity Evaluation, your therapist may recommend an occupational therapy program. Most treatment plans use some the following techniques:

  • Increase physical tolerances for work
  • Learn safe work techniques and how to prevent re-injury
  • Ensure that appropriate job modifications are in place
  • Learn why your injury occurred and how to manage the pain best

Our therapists at Panther Physical Therapy take pride in helping you find relief by treating your occupational injury. We understand that getting back to work and being able to provide for your family is important.
